One of my favorite traditions about Christmas is the annual Christmas morning photo in our new Christmas jammies.
But more than taking the photos, I like looking back on previous years. To see how we’ve grown. Physically and spiritually.

Clara has changed so much from 2011 to 2012. It’s mostly the hair. Thank goodness she is getting hair.

Year 2010. VERY pregnant with Clara. Couldn’t find maternity Christmas jammies, so the top remained unbuttoned to make room for our bulging baby. Neil was experimenting with facial hair… glad that’s over.

Oh 2009. Don’t we both look EXHAUSTED? This was our first few months with our first little baby. There were not very many silent nights.

2008. We are glowing. Our first Christmas as a married couple. We had just lost a baby a few months before, but were actually expecting again around the time of this picture without even knowing it.

2007. Engaged. The whole world before us and no idea what to expect.
Such a fun progression. I’m so in love with the life and family that has developed over the last six Christmases. So thankful for protection around our little family. My thoughts ache when I think about precious families who have lost children or spouses this year. When I think about how fragile life is and how simple and realistic it could be to have a very different photo in 2013.
I’m thankful, that at least this year, God has chosen to give and not take away.
Either way – whether He gives or whether He takes – I’m hoping that my heart (and yours) will truly REST. Rest in the knowledge that He is the Protector. Rest in the truth that He is the Comforter. Rest in HIM.
Blessed be His name. Merry Christmas.

Hi Rebecca! I have been following your blog for awhile now but haven’t commented before
Love all your family pictures! Your children are adorable!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share them and a little piece of your Christmas. Merry Christmas from Texas to you and your family!!
Thanks Darcy! You are so sweet to comment
Merry Christmas to your family, too!
Oh uh-uh, busting Neil out for his facial hair.
So sweet! I love looking back on these kind of pictures. We were married in 2007 and even in the few short years I can’t believe how YOUNG I looked (Well, I guess I was, 22!) but I also chalk it up to kids and the aging that sleep deprivation causes. It’s worth it, though!
