Deep, Quirky, Fun

March 7, 2013

I mentioned last week that I’m totally honored and thrilled to be a part of the next Influence Conference this year.  I went last year and was blown away by how real the Internet became.  It was good to take the Internet off the screen and into face to face real life.  Really good.

And I can’t wait to go this October!  Will you consider coming, too?  I’d love to meet you!  Details for the conference are here.  And tickets go on sale April 1st. They are $225 and will most likely go pretty quick.  Set an alarm on  your phone!

So this is me.  Rebecca Smith.  Owner and designer of Better Life Bags.  But really just your friend.

Three interesting facts about myself:

1.  All the walls in my house are white.  I like neutral walls so I can decorate with lots of color!  And bring home that awesome thrifted decor piece I find without worrying about it matching.

2.  I have two kids and go back and forth about having another.  It doesn’t help that Instagram is crawling with adorable newborn pictures.  I’m just not sure that I want to push the reset button and start over again with the baby stage.  It’s not my favorite. If I DO, I really want to soak it in and remember every coo, but I’m afraid this is an unrealistic expectation of myself.  Just know this is a constant mind battle in my head.

3.  I just recently started blow drying my hair straight every other day.  I have naturally curly hair, but it’s slowly starting to become just wavy and frizzy.  I blame hormones and the fact that I turn 30 this month!  {what?!}  After month of expecting my hair to just dry naturally beautiful, I invested in a good hair dryer and am loving the results of 20 minutes of round brush action.

I have really loved being a part of the Influence Network.  I’ve taken one online class so far {with so many more to take} and it literally rocked my world.  I was thinking about the lessons I learned from it for days afterwards and am still implementing the action steps in my life.

Plus, the forums are just so fun.  My favorite is the Business and Strategy thread.  We talk about lotsa good stuff in there!

So – thinking of coming to Influence in the fall?  Think about joining the Network and you won’t feel so new come October!

there you are! I was looking for you yesterday :)

ok, that picture is too great LOL Your face is so sweet and what a good “Influence Man” to join in :)

I have white walls.. because we rent. It is something I wish to change now, but i really think that once we find a house I’ll want to leave them white for the same reason as you lol

I hope to meet you in September, or before if we pull together a Michigan meetup :)

Fun to read more about you Rebecca! I go a bit back and forth about having another baby too. I had twins the first go around, so of course my first thought is “what if I have twins again?!” That would be ridiculously crazy. And I had a rough time with the infant stage too. Oh yeah…and I’m almost 35 so my clock is really ticking. :) I really hope I can come to the conference this fall. I only live about an hour from Indy and I was going crazy last year seeing all of the photos and recaps. (oooh…and I mailed your skirt yesterday!)

I love making connections! Did realize YOU were the one I bought the skirt from ! I’m so bad at putting two and two together. I hope you can come, too!!

That picture of you two is adorable. I just recently became a white wall lover. I lived my whole life with colorful walls in my parent’s house, and assumed that’s what would make your house look like “you.” I’ve now realized that an entire wall painted in moss green, even if it’s your favorite color, is not always a good idea. haha We’re looking to move soon, and I can’t wait to have a COMPLETELY WHITE home! :)

YES. I love the crisp brightness of it. Not to mention that it helps when taking photos to have a white background! Don’t look too closely at it though, you might find crayon or marker or boogers. {from my toddlers, of course}

Which Influence class did you take? I feel you on the hair – mine is wavy and frizzy and in general just a hot mess. I’ve given up on it naturally curling the way I want it to!
